Job Description:

Provides services for the Tribal Administration Office along with the Governors.

Duites:

Answers phones and assists callers with inquiries and referrals. Transfers phone calls as needed.

Greets and assists walk-in clients/staff/ visitors and alerts appropriate staff.

Maintains a log of incoming clients/staff/ visitors.

Typing and writing correspondence-both through email and in tradition letter form

Maintain schedules and appointments for Governors in conjunctions with Administrative Assistant and Tribal Administrators

Review incoming documents to ensure completeness prior to Governor signatures

Maintain complete confidentiality of any and all tribal governmental activities

Reserving destinations for Governor’s meetings and prepare readiness for events

Coordinate Governor’s SPC Meeting Minutes along with Council Meeting Minutes

Works directly with the Tribal Administration to inform and assist in issues related to legislation as well as ongoing Pueblo projects and endeavors.

Monitors and tracks legislation and other initiatives that could affect or impact the Pueblo of San Felipe or Indian Country, including but not limited to economic development, environmental protection, human services, and trust land issues. 

Participates in consultation meetings with county, state, federal or other external entities.

Represents the tribe in various meetings relevant to respective legislation and/or project related issues. 

Prepares and releases reports to promote overall public understanding and support for the tribe’s mission.

Initiates and monitors tribal projects in collaboration with Tribal Administration and Directors.

Acts as a liaison between tribal committees, boards and business ventures.

Works well with others, builds trust with leadership, peers, other management and staff working in harmony towards the same goals.

Ability to discipline and counsel staff and management as it pertains to policy violations.

Assists with enforcement of Employee Handbook.

Qualifications:

Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required. An Associate’s Degree (AA) or equivalent from a 2-year college or tech school; or 2-3 years related experience or training or an acceptable combinations or both

Experience/ Basic Knowledge: Prefer at least one year of office experience, particularly front desk experience must be able to type 45 wpm. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to converse in Keres and English languages is required. Must have proficiency in email programs and internet use. Must work cooperatively with others. Must have patience and ability to follow directions. Must have the ability to meet schedules and timelines effectively.

Required Licenses/ Certificates: Prefer a valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements: Must have manual dexterity to enter and retrieve data from a computer. Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Use both hands and fingers on a computer keyboard; bending at the wrists and elbow’ occasional stooping, bending at the waist, climbing stairs.

Must be able to travel with the Administration, at times with limited notice.

Ability to prepare different types of correspondence for the Governor.

Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.

Knowledge and ability to write and prepare strategic plans with both long and short terms goals and objectives.

Ability to collaborate and work well with all tribal departments and all other management within the administration.

Must possess knowledge in legislative issues related to county, state, federal and other tribes.

Ability to promote the needs of the pueblo in the best interest of the pueblo.

Ability to ensure a positive government to government relations on behalf of the pueblo with state, federal governments, other tribes and agencies.
