San Felipe Pueblo Public Improvement Authority

The Public Improvement Department (PIA) provides various services throughout the Pueblo to tribal membership: earthwork, road maintenance, water/sewer repairs (outside of the home) and trash pick-up. Physical addresses letters and other information are provided upon tribal member request. Please contact the PIA office in order to place a work order. Keep in mind that all work orders are first come first serve. The Department is only responsible for plumbing assistance with water and sewer lines within five feet of the home – our plumbers are not authorized to perform work within the interior of the home.

Construction Division

This division provides the following services: earth work, water & sewer hookups and land leveling. Please call the PIA office to complete a work order form. All work orders are completed as they are received—though there are emergencies that may arise.  This means emergency requests will be prioritized first. PIA will also locate Pueblo owned water and sewer lines upon request.

Road Maintenance Division

The PIA Office uses the San Felipe Pueblo Transportation Improvement Plan to govern road maintenance tasks.  Road maintenance includes blading of dirt and gravel roads, road resurfacing, recondition and clean roadway surfaces, reshaping slopes and ditches to improve grading and drainage. PIA also cleans and maintains drainage culverts and other drainage structures. PIA will construct new roads within the village.

Operation & Maintenance Division (O&M)

This division provides operation and maintenance for San Felipe Pueblo water system; the water system includes three water tanks, booster pump stations, and well pump houses. Operation &Maintenance is also responsible for monthly water testing and sampling of the water system, to maintain a safe and fully functional water system. PIA is also responsible for the Casino Water System. PIA works with Indian Health Services (IHS) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to ensure a safe drinking water system.  In addition to meeting IHS and EPA water system operations compliance standards PIA also strives to meet IHS and EPA policies and guidelines.

Solid Waste Division

The Solid Waste Division assists the community with weekly (sometimes daily) trash bin pick-up.  There are times when item cannot fit into the provided trash bins.  Solid Waste will remove these items and relocate them to the Transfer Station.  PIA needs your help and support to ensure trash is disposed of properly, please bag all trash.  Community clean up days are also coordinated by the department.
