Job Description:

The Tribal Administrator is responsible for supervising several tribal departments as assigned. Incumbent is responsible for ensuring that staff accountability and services are ongoing and consistent with community and government needs. Works with Tribal leadership and other staff within the administration. Presents information to Tribal Council and other entities internal and external. Ensures that grant management guidelines are being met as well as goals and objectives of the Pueblo. Works as a liaison with other tribal entities as assigned.

Duites:

Responsible to managing tribal departments as assigned to ensure accountability, meeting goals, objectives and providing the necessary services to the community and administration.

Responsible for researching and interpreting, analyzing and reading complex documents such as contracts, grants, budgets, and other inter-departmental governmental documents.

Responsible for the review of department budgets and expenditures.

Oversight on departmental grants and contracts ensuring that deliverables are being met.

Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the office and the tribal programs assigned.

Responsible for spending time in the tribal programs assigned on a consistent and regular basis to ensure accountability and deliverables are being met and programs are enhancing.

Works well with others and takes direction well meeting deadlines, follow-up and thorough on tasks through its completion.

Responsible for the implementation of tribal policies, and procedures with personnel and program to ensure compliance is being met.

Train program Directors with budgeting and other areas of concern to enhance their skills.

Meet with assigned department heads on a consistent basis and as a team on a monthly basis.

Performs supervisory and administrative duties within the tribal operations.

Reviews annual and probationary performance reviews to ensure it is done correctly and fairly in accordance with HR processes and procedures.

Works closely with Human Resources seeking advice on personnel matters.

Represent the tribe in a professional manner at all times on and off duty.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

HS Diploma or equivalent required

Associate degree or equivalent required 

Bachelor’s degree/Master’s Degree required in public/business administration

Four-Six years executive management experience

Valid NM Driver’s License

Must pass a drug/alcohol and background Check.

Must possess excellent verbal/written communication skills.

Excellent networking skills with other state, federal and tribal governments and individuals.

Must be computer literate in word, excel, Microsoft. Power Point and Outlook.

Must be able to multi-task and be organized.

Keres speaker preferred.

Knowledge in tribal government operations

Ability to lead in a positive manner

Ability to manage people with all fairness

Ability to take direction well, follow-through and complete tasks as requested by Administration and Council.

Ability to enforce and implement the tribe’s employee handbook.

Ability to effectively communicate with tribal leaders.

Ability to network with federal, state and other tribal governments.

Skilled at researching with the ability to read, interpret and analyze complex documents.

Ability to respond to effectively to very sensitive inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

Knowledge in grants and contracts.

Ability to write speeches and other documents.
