Job Description:
The Solid Waste Foreman position will require solid waste collection and transportation knowledge and the ability to operate some heavy equipment such as trash trucks, skid steers, mini-excavators, backhoes, and front-end loaders. Knowledge and ability to use a variety of hand tools (i.e., shovels, rakes, sledge hammers, power drills, power saws, grease gun, air tools, etc.). Must be able to oversee and direct personnel in the Solid Waste Division. Must be able to provide direction for day-to-day task related to the Solid Waste Division, complete reporting on all tasks performed, act as the lead in all matters related to operations. Shall help in the day-to-day operations to include assisting with residential solid waste pick up and disposal, transport solid waste to the Sandoval County Landfill, cleaning and maintenance and the operation of trash trucks. Responsible for staff compliance to fill out preventive maintenance reports for equipment used.
Duites:
Responsible for performing any additional work by following instructions of Manager and any other individuals identified by the foreman for Solid Waste projects to be undertaken by the Solid Waste Divsion.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Minimum 2 years’ prior solid waste experience required. Must be able to operate trash trucks, and have a basic understanding of operations and safety of the truck. Must be able to take direction and be familiar with a variety of hand tools. Will help in completing solid waste projects. Will be responsible for learning all safety requirements of the department and be required to attend training as needed.
- Required Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license and Class B CDL
- Physical Requirements: The physical demands require outside work in all seasons and for prolonged periods of time. May require driving in variable weather conditions. Requires walking in undeveloped and uneven terrain.
- Preferences: San Felipe Member Preference, Native American Preference and Veteran’s Preference.
