Job Description:
Provides clinical oversight and site supervision for Behavioral Health Program Equine Therapy Program. Responsible for personnel hiring, evaluation and supervision. Provides direct service to an appropriate caseload of billable direct counseling services to clients.
Duites:
- On-site supervision of the Behavioral Health Program Equine Therapy Program. Responsible for clinical and administrative supervision (including performance appraisals/evaluations) of professionals, para-professionals and other staff. Responsible for supervision and oversight of client treatment.
- Responsible for all aspects of Equine-Assisted Therapy Program operations including: hiring, budgeting, administration and planning.
- Crisis intervention consultation at all program levels including: overall Behavioral Health Program, School Based Health Clinic, Village Clinic or for other departments where mental health and case management services are delivered.
- Provides supervision, guidance, and direction for all Certified Peer Support Workers within an integrated Health and Wellness Department comprehensive care coordination process.
- Provides collaboration and assistance to the BHP Director in planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring behavioral health services.
- Provides collaboration and assistance to the BHP Director in the management of client related quality assurance policies and procedures associated with required charting/documentation practices to meet standards.
- As “Essential Staff” may be required to be available for on-call duty coverage and must be prepared to work on days determined to be Tribal Holidays or Administrative Leave.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
Will be called upon periodically to fill in as supervisor at other BHP sites as needed and determined by Clinical Director. Responsible for all aspects of Equine Program, including ensuring off-hours equine care.

Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy; or Psy.D/Ph.D. related to behavioral health.
- Experience/Basic Knowledge: At least three years of supervisory experience and five years of clinical program work strongly preferred. Eagala and PATH certification, or ability to get certification within six months of employment preferred.
- Required Licenses/Certifications: Current and unencumbered New Mexico License as LPCC, LISW, LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Require a valid driver’s license
- Physical Requirements: Must have manual dexterity to enter and retrieve data from a computer. Ability to sit and stand for long periods. Bends and stoops regularly. May be required to lift up to 30lbs for client-related activities such as equine grooming and riding as well as experiential activities with clients.
- Preferences: San Felipe Preference and Veteran’s Preference.
Working Conditions:
Works in office. Sits for long periods of time and types. Significant outside work including working with horses in an Equine therapy setting.

Supervision: This position is supervised by the Behavioral Health Clinical Director. The incumbent has supervisory responsibility for personnel hiring, evaluation and clinical supervision.
