Job Description:
Monitor the gaming enterprise to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, Tribal laws, and regulations. Conduct audits and inspections on the gaming enterprise to assess compliance. Provide the Executive Director with reports and other documents as necessary to document compliance with applicable regulations. Monitor the gaming enterprise to ensure critical deadlines are met. Perform ongoing evaluations of the internal controls, policies, procedures, and game rules for proper accountability and the safeguarding of assets.
Duites:
- Monitor the casino operations (gaming and gaming related) to determine its compliance with applicable Federal, State, Tribal laws and regulations, controls, policies, and procedures.
- Perform audits and inspections on the gaming enterprise and its personnel to assess compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Tribal laws, regulations, controls, policies, and procedures.
- Provides comprehensive oral and written reports with recommendations to the Executive Director and casino management regarding the non-compliance with any of the provisions of federal, state, tribal laws, regulations, or ordinances.
- Perform ongoing evaluations of the internal controls, policies, procedures, and game rules for proper accountability, the safeguarding of assets, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Review management’s requests to purchase gaming equipment or associated gaming equipment prior to submission to the Gaming Commissioners for action.
- Conducts special investigations of irregularities detected by periodic audits or brought to the attention of SFPGRC by other sources.
- Review reports generated by governmental agencies and/or contracted audit firms regarding annual audits and inspections of the gaming operation. Direct and/or monitor responses to ensure appropriate actions are taken to address findings.
- Perform audits to test the integrity of gaming equipment as required by law or regulations using checklists, programs, reports, etc., evidence of internal audit work performed as required under Tribal MICS
- Review and analyze daily revenue audit reports for fluctuations and discrepancies.
- Review and audit casino’s promotional concepts to verify compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and fairness to the patrons.
- Assist independent auditors as required.
- Issues violations as approved by Executive Director and Gaming Commissioners.
- This position is not limited to those duties listed in the job description. Duties and responsibilities can be changed, expanded, reduced or deleted to meet business needs of the company.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in accounting/business or related field or six years of experience in a gaming industry, regulatory compliance, auditing experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current NM Driver’s license required.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of federal, state, tribal law, and Indian Gaming regulations & requirements to gaming operations.
Understanding of casino operations including operations of accounting, cage, drop and count, table games, slots, marketing, surveillance and security.
Above average written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to write reports, business correspondences and procedure manuals.
Knowledge of records management and basic accounting procedures.
Must be able to work accurately and handle multiple tasks and within designated timelines.
Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information
Ability to read, analyze and interpret complicated documents, such as technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Including SFPGRC policies and procedures, Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, San Felipe Pueblo Gaming Ordinance, State/Tribal Gaming Compact, and National Indian Gaming Commission regulations.
Must be proficient in the use of business computers and office machines
Good problem solving skills
Some evening, overnight and/or weekend work may be required
