Job Description:

The Road Technician IV/Dam Inspector position requires advanced construction knowledge and proficiency in operating a wide range of heavy equipment. This includes skid steers, mini-excavators, grading tractors, smooth and sheepsfoot ride-on rollers up to 84 inches, backhoes, front-end loaders, dump trucks, motor grader, and a 2,000-gallon water truck in construction operations. In addition, is responsible for performing dam inspection duties as requested. Must meet and perform all duties and requirements of Road Technician I, II, and III.

Duites:

Assist with daily road, signage, and construction maintenance using heavy equipment and/or a water truck. Perform heavy equipment finish operations, water truck operations, and support dam inspection and maintenance activities in accordance with safety standards and certification requirements. Use hand and power tools as needed and follow instructions from the foreman and designated supervisory staff on road, dam, and construction projects for the Public Works Division.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • CDL Class A

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Six years’ minimum previous experience required. Must be able to operate a number of types of heavy equipment, to finish grade bluetops, finish grades slopes, finish grade building pads, load trucks, excavate trenches, stockpile, backfill, process materials, compact materials, excavate slopes, and ditches. Must take direction and be familiar with all types of construction projects. Must be able to read and understand plans and blueprints. Must be competent in understanding grade and line, Will help in completing road, bridge and culvert construction projects. Will be responsible for learning and adhering to all safety requirements of the department and be required to attend training as needed.

  • Required Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license and Class A CDL.
  • Physical Requirements: The physical demands require outside work in all seasons and for prolonged periods of time. May require driving in variable weather conditions. Requires walking in undeveloped and uneven terrain.
  • Preferences: San Felipe Member Preference, Native American Preference and Veteran’s Preference.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Keres speaking is desirable.
  • Must have a Class A CDL.
  • Safety of Dams Certification
  • Must be able to perform finish operation of grading of roads, building pads, parking lots, tank sites, etc.
