Job Description:
The Solid Waste Tech III position shall help in the day-to-day operations of the SWD to include assist with residential solid waste pick up and disposal, cleaning and maintenance and the operation of Trash Trucks and heavy equipment, such as backhoes and loaders Responsible for routine maintenance of trucks and equipment. Use of a variety of hand tools (i.e., shovels, rakes, sledge hammers, power drills, power saws, grease gun, air tools, etc.).
Essential Duties:
Responsible for performing any additional work by following instructions of foreman and any other individuals identified by the foreman for Solid Waste projects to be undertaken by the SWD.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Class B CDL.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Minimum 5+ years’ prior solid waste experience required. Must be able to operate trash trucks, and have a basic understanding of operations and safety of the truck. Must be able to take direction and be familiar with a variety of hand tools. Will help in completing solid waste projects. Will be responsible for learning all safety requirements of the department and be required to attend training as needed.
- Required Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license. Valid class B CDL.
- Physical Requirements: The physical demands require outside work in all seasons and for prolonged periods of time. May require driving in variable weather conditions. Requires walking in undeveloped and uneven terrain.
- Preferences: San Felipe Member Preference, Native American Preference and Veteran’s Preference.
Preferred Qualifications –
- Keres speaking is desirable.
