Job Description:
Under the Department of Education (DOE), the Tutor & Homework Helper is responsible for working with all students who visit the library for academic help. This position will help students with their homework, as well as implement the Literacy and math programs to help students improve their academic skills. They will also assist Education Department staff to help work with students and community members during after-school, weekend and summer program activities developed to involve students over the summer, after school hours or on the weekend.
Essential Duties:
- Assist all students with homework
- Implement reading and math program for additional learning based on student level
- Provides friendly and professional assistance to all students
- Helps plan, coordinate, and supervise activities and events to engage students in Activity Programming.
- Assists with students during rotations to ensure students stay engaged and participate.
- Assists with Library needs when available.
- Assists with activities for students and adults when they visit the Library.
- Assists as needed with Education Director and all other Education Department staff
- Submits timesheets ensure pay for hours worked.

Working Conditions:
Works in an office setting. Has extended periods of sitting and working at a computer.
Qualifications:
- Education: HS Diploma or high school equivalency certificate preferred.
- Experience/Basic Knowledge: Ability to work with students and others in a kind manner.
- Physical Requirements: Must have manual dexterity to enter and retrieve data from a computer. Ability to sit and stand for long periods. Bends and stoops regularly. Ability to lift and move boxes up to 25 lbs.
- Preferences: San Felipe Preference and Veteran’s Preference.
