Tribal Enrollment Program

Pueblo of San Felipe Enrollment Program

The Tribal Enrollment Program under the direction of the Tribal Administration carries out all census functions, and maintains the official census of the Pueblo of San Felipe. The primary focus is the growth and strengthening of membership.

SERVICES

The Enrollment program provides the following services to meet the needs of its community members:

  • Enrollment Application
  • Relinquishments
  • Birth Certificates
  • Death Certificates
  • Baptism Certificates
  • Acknowledgement of Paternity
  • Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB)
  • Tribal Identification card (Tribal IDs)
  • Public Notary
  • BIA 4432 Indian Preference Form 
  • Eagle Permit Application  

MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY:

Per the Pueblo of San Felipe Enrollment Ordinance, all individuals who are seeking to apply for membership with the Pueblo must meet the following criteria:

  1. MUST BE 1/4 or more-degree San Felipe Blood to be considered for enrollment. 

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS:

A membership application must be completed for all who wish to become a member of the Pueblo of San Felipe. The following documents are required and must be submitted:

  • Enrollment Application
  • State issued Birth Certificate
  • Acknowledgement of Paternity (If father is not listed on the Birth Certificate)
  • Baptism Certificate
  • Social Security card
  • Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) for non-tribal member parent
  • Adoption Documents (If applicable)
  • Relinquishment documents from other Tribe (If applicable)

Note to parents of Newborn(s): The Enrollment Office DOES NOT have automatic enrollment. Therefore, an Enrollment Application must be submitted along with the required documents for your newborn to be considered for membership.  

TRIBAL IDENTIFICATION CARD (TRIBAL ID):

All ENROLLED San Felipe Tribal members 8 years and older are ELIGIBLE to obtain a Tribal ID. The Tribal Identification card is for the sole purpose of proof of identity and membership with the Pueblo of San Felipe.

Requirements for a Tribal ID:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Card
  • Marriage License/Certificate (If applicable)
  • Court Order documents, such as:
  • Adoption(s)
  • Name Changes
  • Date of Birth Changes

8yrs old to 49yrs old fee $10.00; Replacement Fee $10.00

50yrs old and older is FREE; Replacement Fee $5.00

MARRIAGES:

To ALL the newlyweds, please bring in your Marriage Certificate/License to the Enrollment Office. This will help the Enrollment staff to make updated changes to the Enrollment database, and also submit requests for new CIBs (Certificate of Indian Blood) to reflect the change.

DEATH CERTIFICATES:

While it is not a comfortable topic to discuss, ensuring families receive death certificates is also a responsibility of the Enrollment Department. We understand, losing a loved one is difficult for families to process; when the family is able and ready the Enrollment Department is here to help.

NM Vitals Records procedure require electronic registration for loved ones that have passed. To begin the registration process, an IMMEDIATE family member MUST visit the Enrollment Department BEFORE visiting New Mexico Vital Records.

Applicable documents to bring:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Social Security card
  • Other documents (Hospital, Hospice, OMI, etc.)
